The man behind Sleipner is Ossi Kortesalmi who worked for many years in the Northern Mines. The idea of Sleipner was developed by Ossi on the Elijarvi in the Finish Lapland in the arctic circle.
Ossi was convinced of the technology working and after years of development established Sleipner in 1996.
Following the success of this technology the range has grown to now include carrying 565 tonne excavators as well as all sizes of bulldozers and most drills on any mine site.
SLEIPNER AFRICA, under the directorship of seasoned Mining Industry role player Rory Hollins, is the appointed sole dealer for the principle distributor Eqstra for all Sleipner products for the Southern African region.
The company is based in Johannesburg South Africa and has a network of clients ranging from quarrying through the large Mining Houses and leading Mining contractors spanning the entire African Continent.
SLEIPNER AFRICA operates as a comprehensive Dealer and fulfils an end to end role from placement of order by the client, placement of orders on the OEM in Finland, import, transport to site, assembly, commissioning, training and handover. In addition SLEIPNER AFRICA provides a comprehensive product support platform ranging from Operator Training, Train the Trainer programs, maintenance support, service contracts, application engineering, productivity studies, safety and tracked equipment efficiency optimization programs for their clients.
With a career founded in the Mining Industry spanning many years which includes positions such as the Industry Specialist for Mining at Standard Bank, Senior Manager Sales for Eqstra Mining Services and most recently Senior Sales Manager Mining for Barloworld Equipment, Rory Hollins brings a high level of expertise and experience in the Mining Industry spanning the entire African Continent.
The SLEIPNER AFRICA team consists of a group of highly qualified key role players within the company:
- Charmaine brings a high level of financial discipline in her role as Financial Director. With many years in the financial environment ranging from Industrial manufacturing through to Mining Equipment OEM’s and distributors, Charmaine is very familiar with the Mining client base and ensures a strict financial discipline within SLEIPNER AFRICA.
- Boris, a seasoned veteran in the logistics environment with over 10 years of import and export into Africa adds a strong base with respect to the equipment being imported from Finland and ensuring a seamless and efficient import process and delivery to mine sites as far afield as Tanzania and Northern Zambia.
- John Denz, SLEIPNER AFRICA’s business development and operations Manager has many years’ experience in the mining and equipment industry with a career founded with large OEM’s and for the past ten years John has managed large mine site operations as senior site manager for the OEM, for John no task is too small and he lives by a motto of “there is only one way and that’s the right way”. The customer comes first with John and this attitude and his seamless execution ensures SLEIPNER AFRICA provides our customers with the best support possible.
- Eric Owusu, one of the highest qualified operator trainers in Africa has joined the SLEIPNER AFRICA team as head of training. Eric has operator trainer qualifications in almost all mine support and primary mining equipment ranging from Hydraulic excavators, Dozers, Trucks, Graders, Drills and a range of additional equipment as well as qualifications in safety and mine operations. Eric ensures the highest level of operator training as well as integration of the Sleipner Equipment into the clients mining operations ensuring we add the highest level of operation efficiency and operational and productions gains possible in our clients mining operations.
Having installed many Sleipner Transport systems not only in South Africa but throughout Africa, Rory and his team have the experience in mining operations as well as application engineering to offer the correct Sleipner solution for any mining operation.
